Annapurna base camp trek
Annapurna Base Camp Trek combines some of the most spectacular mountain scenery, providing a fascinating insight into the modern Mountain life of Nepal. This unique trekking route along the local trails, through forests, villages and terraced farmland treats you to unparalleled mountain scenery, surrounded by enormous glaciers giving you close up experience into the Nepalese life and culture.
The trek to Annapurna base camp follows the Modi River and passes through dense stands of rhododendron and bamboo. By the time you reach the large rock over hanging, known as Hinku Cave, you will have noticed that the vegetation has thinned and the gorge narrowed to be only a few hundred meters wide. Steep snow-clad ridges falling from Hiunchuli on the left and Machhapuchhre on the right to the entrance of the Sanctuary. As we pass through the “gate” and enter to the Sanctuary, you find yourself in a huge amphitheatre enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek is more than what you have heard and expected. Except some complexities due to altitude towards the later part of trek the walk is a breeze. Tiny settlements of 5-6 hotels stay atop like a table. The whole mountains of the Annapurna range surround this tiny hamlet. Like a gladiator standing in middle of an amphitheatre in ancient Rome, you can stare at the mountains all around you. The various peaks of Annapurna, the Hiuchuli, the Tent peak, the Ganagapurna, the Machhapuchhre and so many other peaks forms a bowl and you feel like a tiny creature in the centre of these majestic peak savoring all its beauty. No wonder, even the grannies in their eighties from furthest corner of the world makes this pilgrimage to Annapurna Base Camp Trek to witness perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the world. Regular snow fall every day after the noon is quite interesting. The morning would be so bright and warm but the late afternoon and nights are always cold, that is what it means to live at the height of 4210 meters. Every morning, the rich and not so famous would chopper in to Heli-ski from the slopes around the base camp. It’s a beautiful sight to see. You wouldn’t see such awesome adventure sport somewhere else.
